MINE !

This one was started well over a year ago in the cab of my truck . I had purchased the fabric at a Hobby Lobby on the road and started it, then it got shuffled off into the UFO pile when life got hectic. Well a couple of weeks ago I finished the blocks and got them sewn together, finally got it quilted and put the last stitches in the binding just this afternoon. Guess that is pretty fitting timing since I will be back on the road again by the end of the week.

I got a little more creative in my quilting this time and attempted viney leaves. I like the way it turned out!

Playin possum

Not nearly as cute in real life as in pictures. Little pests.... this one is such a regular at the cat food bowl I have named him Elmer.

Looks like I have been busy LOL...... no more tops ready for quilting after this cute little cardinal top that my friend Wasineke gave me after I fell in love with it. Just finally got around to getting it quilted and bound, and I still love it !

Nickel Bricks

Well here's one finished that is staying in the family.... my husband fell in love with it in the flimsy stage and wants it for his semi, so it is his when he comes back thru to pick it up.

Then Fox and Socks had to go out and play today because it was so nice out.

At it Again

Another UFO bites the dust!

This one was a mystery from Apocketfullofmysteries site last Christmas.......................

Porcelian Star

Another finish... this is from the book Sew One and You're Done by Evelyn Sloppy. It was a lot of fun to put together and makes me want to dive right back into her book and make another one.
But I will not do that right now. I am playing a mind game with myself. I allow myself to make a baby quilt in between finishing up old UFOS. Most of my UFOs are just flimsies (tops) waiting to be quilted and bound, so once I get started they go fast. Will see you again when I get the next one finished!

another UFO bites the dust

I am on a roll again! Finally got the Indian Hatchet top turned into a quilt yesterday. It makes me feel like I am really accomplishing something when they move from the flimsy rack to the finished pile.

Outdoor Fun quilt

Another flannel baby quilt on the "done" pile. This one is called Outdoor Fun from the Lickety Split quilts for Little Ones by Laurie Bevan. It was a super fast mindless project but I like it after it is all quilted and bound. Now on to see what else I can get into in my sewing room.............

Sunny Lanes

Finished my latest scrap quilt last night late so here it is for all of the folks that like to see what I play with all of the time.
This one is called Sunny Lanes from the Nickel Book by Pat Speth. It was a fun quilt to make and completely from stash...except the backing ...found a great sale piece of wide backing at Joanns and it insisted on coming home with me LOL.

Wish Upon a Star

Got another baby quilt finished... from flannel this time, using all stash, including the scrap of batting I used in it. This one is called Wish Upon a Star from the Lickity Split Quilts for Little Ones book by Laurie Bevan. It was fun quilting this one with the funky hearts to mimic the design in the fabric.

I really feel like I have accomplished something today. Finally finished a UFO I started well over 30 years ago. I hand pieced this quilt using cardboard templates to cut the blocks .... boy have I come a long way baby ! I almost threw this top away instead of finishing it because I was ashamed of the workmanship in it. It may have puckery seams and not be perfectly square but all in all after it is all quilted and bound it doesn't look half bad LOL.

meet "Cassidy"

Cassidy started as a small handfull of 30s blocks that were sent to me as a PIG (project in grocery sack). It took some thinking and a little embroidering but I think I came up with a cute way to put those blocks into a sweet little comfort quilt for some little girl.

A Finish

just now put the last stitch in the binding on this little gem. the embroidery blocks are a set of Bonnet Kids designs that I test stitched for the DollarStitch embroidery site. the 9 patches were from a swap I was in in an earlier life.(mostly extra ones I had made because the swap was a dissapointment) the backing ,border, and binding came from stash , and the batting was a leftover hunk from an earlier project. so, all in all i am feeling pretty thrifty LOL.

YIPPEEEEE

Lookie Lookie Lookie !!!!!!!! I am feeling mighty lucky lately ! I bought a few raffle tickets from my friend Dlog in Quilt Chat for chances to win the quilt that their guild made to raise money. I really had no idea of winning cause I am the person that could have every ticket but one and still not win....... but then I got a congratulations email and I about fell over..... This morning I knew it was coming in the mail and I was hovering near my mailbox like a vulture LOL.

Thank you so much ladies ! It is absolutely beautiful ! All that white I am going to have to fiercely guard it from my dog and my hubby LOL. Makes me almost wish it was chilly weather so I could wrap myself up in it !

Sewing Space

Ok ladies, I never want to hear anyone fuss about having a tiny sewing area LOL....I think I have the smallest of all. I sit on the bunk and my machine sits on the pull out drawer of the built in desk in my sleeper. I keep my blocks laid out on a lap desk beside me on the bunk, and when I need to press I get out the nifty little cutting mat that has a pressing surface on the back of it and plug in my mini iron and just steam away LOL. When I am ready to hang the quilt for pictures I use large clips to clip it to the edge of my upper bunk and let it hang down .

Can ya guess where I went today ?????

And yet another one .......

Got another top done for the quilting pile..... this one is called Square Crossing from the Square Deal book by Nancy Mahoney. Interesting pattern and very easy (just time consuming) to put together.

Quick Easy Finish

Ok another one in the done pile, waiting for quilting....the border really does lay flat but a furball ran across the edge of it and ruffled it up just as i was taking the picture LOL. I had planned to make a pieced border for this one too, but when I laid it out beside the quilt it just looked too heavy. I was going back in to my sewing room while I was trying to decide what to do with it and lo and behold, this multi colored splotchy piece was on top of a stack and it blends perfectly! So it became the border and already cut the binding out of it too. I will whip that up later and put it with the quilt for later installation...lol. Ok........now what can I get into around here................

TADA!!!!!

It has been a productive weekend here quilt wise for me. I made the blocks for this quilt in the truck when I was out in Idaho waiting for my load. Got them all squared up and put together and the borders made and put on today. This is the first quilt I have ever made using black and I LOVE IT !!!!!!! Will love it even more after I get it quilted LOL.

PICTURES

Just somethin about these hills puts peace in my soul.

sorry bout the bugs LOL they INSISTED on coming along for the ride too

Whew

It has been a busy couple of weeks. Took chemicals from TN. to TX. Took tires from AR to CO and WY. Now hauling gun safes from ID to OH and will final in VA, then back home again for a few days. Tonight finds me parked at the dock of my customer in Ohio waiting for them to come to work in the morning to offload their part of this load.
I even managed to squeeze in one afternoon of sewing while I was out in Idaho. Got 132 blocks chain pieced to make a Nickel Bricks quilt I have been admiring forever. I started the squaring up process but ran out of time and had to leave it till I am home again probably. Will post pictures as soon as I get the top sewn together, but as heavy as my work schedule has been no telling when that might be.
I am not having much luck getting my pictures to go where I want them to be in my posts, so I will stick them in a second post. Just wanted to show you guys some of the beautiful mountains that I so dearly love out west. (you get to see them the same way i did LOL, thru my bug splattered windshield ..........)

Home Fun

I have been home for a few days and having a ball with my embroidery machine and sewing machine. Actually finished that Indian Hatchet top that I have been working on for months!

Taught myself how to do FSL (free standing lace) too. It makes such lovely delicate ornaments!

Also got a wild hair and started to embroider Jacobean flowers on delicate lavendar hued fabric to try to bring a picture in my mind of a floral quilt to life.

And someone call a shrink for me...... started another scrap quilt with 1.5" pieces! Can we say glutton for punishment LOL. I have visions of this becoming a full sized quilt but we shall see how long my good intentions last.....

Sunshine State

It has been a beautiful day here in the sun shine state, I got my load of insulation delivered early this morning with no problem , then met a dear chat friend and her hubby for lunch. This was the first time Burdencha and I had met face to face but I sure hope it will not be the last! She made me a FSL angel to watch over me on the road and it is hanging up where I will see it every day and think of her and smile. She also gave me a lovely FQ of roses that are way to pretty to cut up, so I may just have to wear it out petting it LOL.

I'm Still Alive

Just not had much time to blog lately since I switched over to pulling a van trailer I have been busy busy busy. Think I screwed up taking this load tho....on my way from Greenville, MS to Pasco, WA with a load of chemicals and stopped last night at dark because the mist in the air was freezing on the truck, so I figured the roads might be getting slick too. I just watched the weather channel and it does not look like a rosy forecast for me...the whole northwestern corner of the country looks snowy.....oh well......we'll see....nobody said it was gonna be easy. Now I am waiting for it to get daylight so I can see what the conditions look like on the road.

Before I forget again...I had such a delightful batch of mail when I passed thru home last week. A dear chat friend from Il sent me a great box CRAMMED full of fabric to use in my charity quilts. And another dear friend had sent me a set of hand mitts she had knitted for me! AND a sneaky little friend from chat also sent me a lovely quilt and placemats and stacks of lovely purple fabric! I say sneaky because I had sent her all of my unwanted Christmas fabric and she turned them into gorgeous things for me ! Even pieced a neat backing for the quilt!

Ok you have waited long enuf

My little furry friend Foxy (say that 3 times fast) had me stop in Phoenix, AZ for a few days last weekend so he could visit with his buddies that live there.

I had a lovely time sewing and looking at Foxy's friend's mommy's new quilt books too !

And then....miracle of miracles.......she even fixed me a home cooked meal and it was yummy yummy yummy.......and I didn't even get sick afterwards...so she blew her cover....the secret is out....Marsha can cook !
